Fresenius Medical Care <br /> MEDICAL WASTEa <br /> MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> i <br /> 1� <br /> (40 CFR 259) <br /> Waste Storage ➢ Medical waste storage areas / rooms will be vermin and <br /> Areas I Rooms insect free and maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. <br /> ➢ Only those personnel who are trained to handle medical and <br /> potentially infectious (Bio-hazardous) waste are permitted to <br /> enter this area. <br /> ➢ Any ruptured or leaking containers are to be immediately <br /> repackaged in accordance, and in full compliance with the <br /> Bloodborne Pathogens and Infection Control Policy. <br /> ➢ The designated "Bio-hazardous Waste Area or Room" shall <br /> be closed off and have the placarding "BIOHAZARD" and <br /> "AUTHORIZED S ONLY". <br /> Spills When a spill involving blood or other body fluids occurs, wear <br /> proper Personal Protective Equ1pment(i.e.,gloves, face <br /> protection, and apron — Refer to your written Bloodborne <br /> Pathogen Program) and immediately clean up the spill using a <br /> 1:100 bleach solution and absorbent paper material. The <br /> material must then be disposed of as medical and potentially <br /> infectious (Bio-hazardous) waste.
