6. 1. Policy <br />It is the policy of Sodexo Laundry Stockton to provide all employees with adequate <br />education and training to enable them to perform their job functions successfully and <br />safely. <br />6.2. Process <br />It is the responsibility of all managers to ensure education and training of employees <br />assigned to them. <br />6.3. Procedures <br />• Train all employees in the principles of Universal Precautions and in the use <br />of personal protective equipment at the time of initial assignment to tasks <br />where occupational exposure will take place. <br />• Review training at least annually or if breaks in procedures are observed. <br />• Conduct monthly safety meetings. <br />• Post safety-related items (articles, posters, etc.) on bulletin board in a timely <br />manner. <br />• Company Core Program <br />The Laundry Training Program will occur at the time of initial assignment. The <br />employees with occupational exposures will be trained at the time of initial <br />assignment and at least annually thereafter. <br />6.4.1. The Training Program will consist of the following elements: <br />• Information on the location of an accessible copy of the regulatory text of <br />this standard and an explanation of its contents. <br />• A general discussion of bloodborne diseases, emphasizing epidemiology, <br />symptoms of each disease, modes of transmission, explanation of the Unit's <br />Exposure Control Plan and how an employee can obtain a copy of the plan. <br />• An explanation of the appropriate methods for recognizing tasks and other <br />activities that involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious <br />materials. <br />• An explanation of the use, limitations and methods which will prevent or <br />reduce exposures including: engineering control, work practices and <br />personal protective equipment. <br />• An explanation of the proper use, location, handling, decontamination and <br />disposal of personal protective equipment. <br />• An explanation of the reasons for selecting personal protective equipment. <br />• Information on the Hepatitis B vaccine, including information on its <br />efficacy, safety, method of administration, benefits of being vaccinated, and <br />that the vaccine and vaccination will be offered free of charge. <br />12.09 -21 - <br />
