Field Operations Policy and Procedures <br /> a. Ensure hoses, hose connections, pumps and valves are not leaking and that the unit is <br /> operating as designed. <br /> b. Document the inspection on the Embalming Machine Inspection Checklist (FIN- <br /> CS103), using a separate checklist for each machine. Maintain the checklist in the <br /> preparation room, making it easily accessible for the monthly inspection. <br /> Eyewash/Emergency Shower: <br /> 1. Inspect the emergency shower and eye wash station monthly. <br /> a. Confirm a one-step shower stall, emergency shower or drench hose in the preparation <br /> room is no more than 25 feet from the work area. If an emergency drench hose is <br /> utilized, confirm that it is permanently plumbed (hard-piped) to a fresh/cold water <br /> source and that it is used for no other purpose. <br /> b. Confirm a one-step emergency eyewash station in the preparation room is no more <br /> than 25 feet from the work area, and that it is permanently plumbed (hard-piped) to a <br /> fresh/cold water source and that it is used for no other purpose. <br /> c. Ensure the eyewash and shower are easily activated for operation. <br /> d. Ensure the eyewash and shower are located in an easily accessible area free from <br /> obstacles that could impede access. <br /> e. Ensure the eyewash nozzles are equipped with protective covers to keep them free of <br /> dust and debris. <br /> f. Ensure the eyewash protective covers automatically come off when the eyewash is <br /> activated. <br /> g. Confirm that the emergency eyewash station sprays water equally from both nozzles, <br /> allows hands-free operation so the splashed associate can hold his/her eyes open <br /> while flushing occurs and that water is clear after flushing. <br /> h. Document the inspection on tags affixed to the eyewash station and emergency <br /> shower. <br /> 10. Refrigeration <br /> 10.1 Decedent Handling and Storage Requirements <br /> Policy. All Company representatives must ensure that decedents are always properly handled <br /> and securely stored.
