Periodic litter <br /> collection eliminates the small amount of litter that escapes <br /> the control fences . Prompt cover of the working face prevents <br /> insects from becoming a problem. The only rodents present at <br /> the site are ground squirrels that have occupied portions of <br /> the site that were filled several years ago. These animals <br /> are common in this area of California and their numbers are not <br /> increased by the landfill. A water truck is operated when dust <br /> levels reach unacceptable levels . <br /> I . At the present time, no salvage operations are conducted at <br /> this facility. A feasibility study is being conducted to deter- <br /> mine the economy of salvaging cans at the site. <br /> J. No complaints have been received regarding the noise at <br /> Austin Road landfill site. The nearest residence is over one- <br /> half mile away, and noise levels are not such that sound carries <br /> that distance. The contractor on the landfill site complies <br /> with Cal-OSHA safety orders and uses ear protection devices . °I!s <br /> site is not open to the public. <br /> Item #2 Only Group 2 wastes are accepted at the site. The <br /> estimated composition of the waste stream is 32% residential , <br /> 68% commercial and industrial. It is impossible to determine <br /> the percentages of commercial and industrial waste at this time; <br />
