We concur with this abandonment based on the following:
1. The State Department of Water Resources agrees that the proposed well
abandonment procedures, which call for grouting only the drill stem,
are appropriate.
2. The City will assume all responsibility for any water quality
problems which may occur as a resuIt'of the proposed well abandonment
procedures.
3. Both the upper and lower ground water zones (or the whole ground
water zone) penetrated by the auger have been found to be
contaminated, and the movement of fluids between these zones (or in
the zone) along the auger flights will not impair efforts to clean
up ground water at Austin Road Landfill.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5737.
K.
