Morris Allen
March 21, 1990
Page 2
SLUDGE HANDLING AT AUSTIN ROAD LANDFILL
6. The LEA and the Integrated Waste Management Board must
also be kept informed and their approval will also be
required.
7. Mr. Jeffrey Tucker told Stephen Chen that, prior to the
hauling of the yearly 5,000 cubic yards of sludge, the
Water Board will require a laboratory analysis of sludge
for their approval.
We -were told by the Water Board that the manager of the landfill
is responsible to make sure everything will comply to the
regulations to their satisfaction. As you know, we have enough
underground water contamination problem and other problems to
deal with at this landfill. We would like to avoid creating any
more potential problems for the future.
Please review this information and let us meet to decide how best
to handle this problem.
JAMES B. GIOTTONINI
PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
JBG:SC: gh
cc: Stephen Chen, Deputy Public Works Director/Streets
