In the event of equipment failure, equipment will be rented from a local heavy equipment rental
company as needed. Currently, heavy equipment is rented from Holt of California, United
Rentals, or Pape Machinery.
Preventative maintenance is conducted on the equipment in conformance with industry
standards. Pre-operation inspections are conducted by the operators. The pre-operation
inspections include checking fluid levels, cleaning filters, and minor repairs, if necessary.
Equipment repairs are conducted by the local equipment dealer for each specific type of
equipment (i.e. AI -Jon, Caterpillar, John Deere, etc).
Routine maintenance is conducted per manufacturer's standards by the local dealer. In
addition, Brandon Tire and/or Wilson Tire are used to repair tires on heavy equipment.
6.6. Special Handling Procedures
Hazardous wastes are prohibited in the landfill. This person also records on a vehicle log, the vehicle
number of each vehicle and the name of the hauler, if the customer is a commercial hauler.
The discharge area is approximately 100 feet by 100 feet. Loads containing hazardous waste
are rejected. If the presence of hazardous waste is not discovered until after the load is
dropped, the procedures in the Hazardous Waste Exclusion Program are followed.
Special handling procedures are also employed by the landfill for specific types of waste,
including:
• Electronic wastes (universal waste, electronic devices and cathode ray tubes, or
CRTs) are stored onsite prior to removal.
