Sathees Contractor: R J Gordon Construction, Inc. Weather: Partly cloudy Wind: 0-10 mph. Temperature: A22rox. range 55-85 F Other: The contractor worked from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Excavation: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Up to (1) CAT D6 and (1) CAT D8 dozers with ripper attachments assisted up to (4) CAT 627 and (2) CAT 637 scrapers load material from the excavation along north side of the cell. The soil was hauled and stockpiled at North West Stockpile for use as daily cover for current landfill operations and to Earthfill construction below the Access Road at the west side of the work area. The soil was hauled on an approximate 5 -min cycle. (1) CAT 14H motorgrader was observed fine grading part time on the upper portion of the north slopes. In the morning, the CAT D6 dozer also assisted up to (2) CAT (637) scrapers load material from the excavation along west side of the cell. The soil was hauled and placed as Earthfill below Access Road at west side of the cell. 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Scrapers were idle. The CAT D6 and D8 dozers, CAT 14H motorgrader, and CAT 825 compactor started ripping and breaking the large clods at the existing subgrade at south side of the cell, where Earthfill is required to bring the subgrade to bottom of Foundation layer. The CAT 621 water pull moisture -conditioned the surface to assist the process North West Stockpile: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. (1) CAT 14H motorgrader was observed spreading and grading the soil in the Stockpile fill areas, maintaining haul roads. (1) CAT 621 water pull was used to maintain fill areas, haul roads, and excavation areas. South Stockpile (Fdn. Stk.): No activity was observed. One sample was tested on previously stockpiled material and the fines content of the stockpiled material was 38 percent of the portion finer that 3/8 -inch. Access Road Embankment Fill (Earthfill): 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. (2) CAT 627 scrapers continued hauled the soil from the excavation areas and placed thin lifts. The soil appeared to be mixture of brown silty/clayey sand and grey sand. (1) CAT 621 water pull moisture -conditioned the Earthfill. The CAT 825 compactor was used to compact the Earthfill. Density testing on the Earthfill indicated compliance with the specifications. One sample was obtained from the fill area and maximum density test was conducted to help select the appropriate compaction curve.
