r
I --
DAILY FIELD REPORT Page 1 of 1
Project Name: Foothill Sanitary Landfill - Area 2A Report Number: 066
Project Number: 14-101-01 Date: Tuesday 08/11/1S
Owner: Dept. of Public Works, San Joaquin County CQA Monitors: R. Nogales
Contractor: R J Gordon Construction, Inc. M. Hu and
Weather: Clear - Warm Wind: 0-10 mph.
Temperature: A2prox. range 55- 88 F Other:
The contractor worked from 5:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Excavation: No activity observed.
Access Road: No activity observed.
Operations Layer Processing: Contractor continued screening of operations stockpile today at 5:30 am. (1) Hyundai 480LC,
(1) Hitachi 300 excavator and (1) CAT D6 dozer used to perform screening operations. The Hyundai 480LC was used to load
soil from the east end of Stockpile 2 into the Power Screen screening plant. Hitachi 300 Excavator used to stage screened
operations material for future haul and remove waste material from under screen plant and belt into separate stockpile. D6
Dozer used to support Hyundai Excavator. Screened product was stockpiled in a cone using a belt stacker to keep the
screened soil separate from unprocessed soil. At approximately 7:30 am, a sample of the operations layer was collected from
screened stockpile and a full gradation was run in the field lab. Lab Results indicate 100% passing 1" sieve.
Gravel Drainage Material Placement: 17 tandem end -dumps used to import Gravel Drainage Material (GDM) from Cemex
Rock Plant until 4:30 pm. Observed 3ft of GDM between end dumps and underlying geosynthetics. Contractor has placed
temporary plywood sheets over previously installed Leachate collection pipe along Southeastern portion of cell. Temporary
plywood to be removed upon completion of GDM placement. (1) Cat D6 LGP dozer equipped with GPS spreading GDM along
southeastern portion of cell floor. (1) Laborer used to control wrinkles. GDM spreading discontinued at approximately 1:30
due to moderate to heavy wrinkles observed in HDPE Liner. GDM import continued, with material being stockpiled on
previously deployed GDM. AES QA personnel monitored the placement and verified the depths of the placed LCRS gravel by
using a dulled probe.
At approximately 8:00 am, a sample of the GDM was collected from end dump stockpile and a full gradation was run in the
field lab. Results of gradation indicated material generally complied with the approved gradation. Tonnage not available at
time of field daily preparation.
Geotextile: RJ Gordon deployed and sewed 8 oz/sy geotextile along Southwestern most portion of the cell. GDM not finished
in this area due to excessive wrinkles in liner. 8 oz/sy geotextile rolled back awaiting GDM to be graded and finished. (3)
Laborers used to hand roll Geotextile into place. Observed seams sewn using hand sewing machine.
Leachate Collection Pipe: Contractor continued placement of Leachate Collection Pipe along southern line heading West.
Approximately 150 if of 6" perforated HDPE pipe was placed today. (1) Cat 950 M Loader operating over completed
operations layer soil used to place coarse gravel over 6" Perforated HDPE Pipe. Coarse gravel and 6" HDPE pipe wrapped in 8
oz/sy Geotextile. Depth of Gravel was measured to be a minimum of 1ft in depth and a minimum of Oft in width. Geotextile
was measured to have a 2ft minimum overlap.
Equipment Onsite: (1) CAT D6T LGP dozer, (2) water trucks, (1) Hitachi 300 excavator, (1) CAT TH160B folk lift, (1) CAT
430D backhoe. (1) CAT 623 paddlewheel scraper. (1) Power Screen, (1) Belt Stacker, (1) Hyundai 48OLC excavator, (1) CAT
D6T dozer, (2) Cat 745 Dump Truck, (1) Cat 950 M Loader
Problems/Resolutions.
Visitors: Mike Raub
Reviewed By: M.
