DAILY FIELD REPORT Page 1 of 1
Project Name: Foothill Sanitary Landfill - Area 2A Report Number: 067
Project Number: 14-101-01 Date: Wednesday 08/12/15
Owner: Dept. of Public Works, San Joaquin County CQA Monitors: R. Nogales
Contractor: R J Gordon Construction, Inc. M. Hu and
Weather: Clear - Warm Wind: 0-10 mph.
Tem erature: ARprox. range 60- 91 F Other:
The contractor worked from 5:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Excavation: No activity observed.
Access Road: No activity observed.
Operations Layer Processing: Contractor continued screening of operations stockpile today at 5:30 am. (1) Hyundai 480LC,
(1) Hitachi 300 excavator and (1) CAT D6 dozer used to perform screening operations. The Hyundai 480LC was used to load
soil from the east end of Stockpile 2 into the Power Screen screening plant. Hitachi 300 Excavator used to stage screened
operations material for future haul and remove waste material from under screen plant and belt into separate stockpile. D6
Dozer used to support Hyundai Excavator. Screened product was stockpiled in a cone using a belt stacker to keep the
screened soil separate from unprocessed soil. At approximately 7:00 am, a sample of the operations layer was collected from
screened stockpile and a full gradation was run in the field lab. Lab Results indicate 100% passing 1" sieve.
Gravel Drainage Material Placement: 5:00 am (1) Cat D6 LGP dozer equipped with GPS spread GDM from yesterday's
delivery that had been stockpiled. Placement had discontinued on 8/11/15 due to wrinkles. Contractor began spreading early
to minimize wrinkles in liner. At 6:30 am, 17-18 tandem end -dumps used to import Gravel Drainage Material (GDM) from
Cemex Rock Plant until 4:30 pm. End dumps backed up onto GDM to off load material. Observed a minimum of 3ft of GDM
between haul equipment and underlying HDPE Liner at all times during delivery operations. Contractor has placed
temporary plywood sheets, in a second location, over previously installed Leachate collection pipe along South portion of cell.
Temporary plywood to be removed upon completion of GDM placement. (1) Cat D6 LGP dozer equipped with GPS spreading
GDM along southeast portion of cell floor. (1) Laborer used to control wrinkles. GDM spreading discontinued at
approximately 2:00 pm due to moderate to heavy wrinkles observed in HDPE Liner. GDM import continued, with material
being stockpiled on previously deployed GDM. AES QA personnel monitored the placement and verified the depths of the
placed LCRS gravel by using a dulled probe.
At approximately 10:00 am, a sample of the GDM was collected from finished floor and a full gradation was run in the field
lab. QA Manager informed of gradation results. On a couple screens the sand was outside of the approved submittal limits but
it met the passing No. 4 and No 200 screens. Contractor was notified.
Geotextile: RJ Gordon deployed (1) panel of 8 oz/sy geotextile approximately 70 ft long in the center of center of sump under
proposed 6" perforated HDPE Leachate Collection Pipe.
Leachate Collection Pipe: Previously placed plywood was removed over top of Leachate collection pipe in the southeastern
portion of cell. Observed exposed 8 oz/sy geotextile was not damage. (3) Laborers and (1) Cat 950 M Loader used to complete
Leachate Collection Pipe into the Sump. Loader operating over completed operations layer soil was used to place coarse
gravel over 6" Perforated HDPE Pipe. Coarse gravel and 6" HDPE pipe wrapped in 8 oz/sy Geotextile. Depth of Gravel was
measured to be a minimum of 1ft in depth and a minimum of 4ft in width. Geotextile was measured to have a 2 ft minimum
overlap.
Equipment Onsite: (1) CAT D6T LGP dozer, (2) water trucks, (1) Hitachi 300 excavator, (1) CAT TH160B folk lift, (1) CAT
430D backhoe. (1) CAT 623 paddlewheel scraper. (1) Power Screen, (1) Belt Stacker, (1) Hyundai 480LC excavator, (1) CAT
D6T dozer, (2) Cat 745 Dump Truck, (1) Cat 950 M Loader
Problems/Resolutions.
Visitors:
Reviewed By: M.
