Hu and <br />Weather: Clear - Warm Wind: 0-10 mph. <br />Temperature: A22rox. range 60- 91 F Other: <br />The contractor worked from 5:00 am to 4:00 pm. <br />Excavation: No activity observed. <br />Access Road: No activity observed. <br />Operations Layer Processing: Contractor continued screening of operations layer soil stockpile today at 5:30 am. (1) <br />Hitachi 300 excavator and (1) CAT D6 dozer used to perform screening operations. The Hitachi 300 used to load soil from the <br />east end of Stockpile 2 into the Power Screen screening plant. Screened product was stockpiled in a cone using a belt stacker <br />to keep the screened soil separate from unprocessed soil. (1) 950 M Loader used part time to support Hitachi 300 and to <br />relocate +1" from under belt into separate stockpile. A second D6 Dozer was added part time to screening operation. The <br />plant ran until 4 pm. <br />Operations Layer Placement: Hyundai 300 loading (2) Cat 745 Dump Trucks with Screened Operations Layer for placement <br />on cell floor. Midmorning (1) Cat 745 Dump Truck shut down. (1) D6 LGP Dozer was used for part of the day to spread <br />Operations layer 2 ft thick over deployed 8 oz/sy geotextile along southern edge of cell working to the north and west. <br />Random samples of Operations layer hand sieved in field with 1" screen during placement. Observed 100% passing 1" screen. <br />Contractor has not performed Point over Point survey of GDM prior to Operations Layer being placed. Per contractor, <br />Operations Layer to be excavated in potholes down to the geotextile and point over point survey will be performed at that <br />time. Contractor verbally informed he was proceeding at his own risk. <br />Gravel Drainage Material Placement: 5:00 am (1) Cat D6 LGP dozer equipped with GPS spread GDM from yesterday's <br />delivery. Contractor began spreading early to minimize wrinkles in liner. AES QA personnel monitored the placement and <br />verified the depths of the placed LCRS gravel by using a dulled probe. Placement of GDM stopped around 1:30 pm. <br />Geotextile: (3) Great Basin employees on site this morning to deploy 8 oz/sy geotextile over graded GDM along SE portion of <br />cell floor. 8 oz/sy also deployed in Sump area and portions of the LCRS trench at toe of east slope. Observed seams sewn <br />using hand sewing machine. <br />Leachate Collection Pipe: Previously placed plywood that had been placed over top of Leachate collection pipe in the <br />southeastern portion of cell was removed. Observed exposed 8 oz/sy geotextile to be free from damage. <br />Equipment Onsite: (1) CAT D6T LGP dozer, (2) water trucks, (1) Hitachi 300 excavator, (1) CAT TH160B folk lift, (1) CAT <br />430D backhoe. (1) CAT 623 paddlewheel scraper.
