DAILY FIELD REPORT Page 1 of 1
Project Name: Foothill Sanitary Landfill - Area 2A Report Number: 069
Project Number: 14-101-01 Date: Friday 08/14/15
Owner: Dept. of Public Works, San Joaquin County CQA Monitors: R. Nogales
Contractor: R J Gordon Construction, Inc. M. Hu and
Weather: Clear - Hot Wind: 0-10 mph.
Temperature: A22rox. range 63- 93 F Other:
The contractor worked from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Excavation: No activity observed.
Access Road: No activity observed.
Operations Layer Processing: Contractor continued screening of operations stockpile today at 6:00 am. (1) Hitachi 300
excavator and (1) CAT D6 dozer used to perform screening operations. The Hitachi 300 used to load soil from the east end of
Stockpile 2 into the Power Screen screening plant. Screened product was stockpiled in a cone using a belt stacker to keep the
screened soil separate from unprocessed soil. (1) 950 M Loader used part time to support Hitachi 300 and to relocate +1"
from under belt into separate stockpile.
Operations Layer Placement: Hyundai 300 loading (2) Cat 745 Dump Trucks with Screened Operations Layer for placement
on cell floor (1) D6 LGP Dozer was used to spread Operations layer 2 ft thick over deployed 8 oz/sy geotextile along southern
edge of cell working to the north and west. Random samples of Operations layer hand sieved in field with 1" screen during
placement. Observed 100% passing 1" screen.
Contractor continues to place Operations layer over GDM without Point over Point Survey data. Per contractor, Operations
Layer to be excavated in potholes down to geotextile and point over point survey to be performed at that time.
Gravel Drainage Material Placement: 14-15 tandem end -dumps used to import Gravel Drainage Material (GDM) from
Cemex Rock Plant until 4:00 pm. Observed 3 ft of GDM between end dumps and underlying geosynthetics. Contractor has
placed temporary plywood sheets as protective cover for middle Leachate collection pipe located Eastern portion of cell.
Plywood will be removed upon completion of GDM placement in this area. (1) Cat D6 LGP dozer equipped with GPS spreading
GDM along southwest corner of cell floor. (1) Laborer used to control wrinkles. GDM placement discontinued at
approximately 1:00 due to moderate to heavy wrinkles observed in HDPE Liner. GDM import continued, with material being
stockpiled on previously deployed GDM. AES QA personnel monitored the placement and verified the depths of the placed
LCRS gravel by using a dulled probe.
(1) Field sample of LCRS gravel retrieved from cell floor and gradation performed on site. Field gradation indicated 100%
passing 3/8", 38% passing #4 and 0.5% passing #200 screen.
Leachate Collection Pipe: Contractor continued placement of Leachate Collection Pipe along southern portion of cell
heading West. Portion of centeral Leachate Collection pipe installed from eastern toe of slope trench heading to the west. (1)
Cat 950 M Loader and (1) John Deere 410 Backhoe operating over completed operations layer soil was used to place coarse
gravel over 6" Perforated HDPE Pipe. Coarse gravel and 6" HDPE pipe was wrapped in 8 oz/sy Geotextile. Depth of Gravel was
measured to be a minimum of 1ft in depth and a minimum of 4 ft in width. Geotextile was measured to have a 2 ft minimum
overlap.
Equipment Onsite: (1) CAT D6T LGP dozer, (2) water trucks, (1) Hitachi 300 excavator, (1) CAT TH160B folk lift, (1) John
Deere 410 Backhoe. (1) CAT 623 paddlewheel scraper. (1) Power Screen, (1) Belt Stacker, (1) Hyundai 480LC excavator, (1)
CAT D6T dozer, (2) Cat 745 Dump Truck, (1) Cat 950 M Loader
Problems/Resolutions.
Visitors:
Reviewed By: M.
