DAILY FIELD REPORT Page 1 of 1
Project Name: Foothill Sanitary Landfill - Area 2A Report Number: 070
Project Number: 14-101-01 Date: Monday 08/17/15
Owner: Dept. of Public Works, San Joaquin County CQA Monitors: R. Nogales
Contractor: R J Gordon Construction, Inc. M. Hu and
Weather: Clear - Hot Wind: 0-10 mph.
Tem erature: Approx. range 63- 104 F Other:
The contractor worked from 5:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Excavation: No activity observed.
Access Road: No activity observed.
Operations Layer Processing: Screening of Operations Stockpile was performed on Saturday 8/15/2015. AES not on site
during screening. (5) Locations within Saturday's screened stockpile were field tested using 1" gradation sieve to measure
maximum aggregate size. Observed 100% of material passing 1" Sieve at all (5) locations. (1) Sample collected from Saturday
stockpile to run full gradation in field lab. Lab results indicated 100 % Passing 1" Screen.
Contractor continued screening of operations stockpile today at 6:00 am. (1) Hyundai 480 excavator, (1) CAT D6 dozer (1)
950 M Loader used to perform screening operations. The Hyundai 480 used to load soil from the east end of Stockpile 2 into
the Power Screen screening plant. Screened product was stockpiled in a cone using a belt stacker to keep the screened soil
separate from unprocessed soil. (1) 950 M Loader used relocate +1" from under belt into separate stockpile. Screening
operation ended at 4:00.
Operations Layer Placement: (1) D6 LGP Dozer used to spread Operations Layer previously stockpiled on cell floor Friday.
Operations layer was placed 2 ft thick over deployed 8 oz/sy geotextile along southern edge of cell working to the north and
west. Random samples of Operations layer hand sieved in field with 1" screen during placement. Observed 100% passing 1"
screen.
Contractor continues to place Operations layer over GDM without Point over Point Survey data. Per contractor, Operations
Layer to be potholed down to the geotextile and point over point survey to be performed at that time.
Gravel Drainage Material Placement: 10-11 tandem end -dumps were used to import Gravel Drainage Material (GDM) from
Cemex Rock Plant until 4:30 pm. Observed 3 ft of GDM between end dumps and underlying geosynthetics. (1) Cat D6 LGP
dozer equipped with GPS spread GDM along southeast corner of cell floor this morning beginning at 5:00 am (1) Laborer used
to control wrinkles. GDM placement discontinued at approximately 1:00 due to moderate to heavy wrinkles observed in
HDPE Liner. GDM import continued, with material being stockpiled on previously deployed GDM. AES QA personnel
monitored the placement and verified the depths of the placed LCRS gravel by using a dulled probe.
10:30 Observed potentially coarse material in a couple loads of GDM. A sample was collected and field gradation indicated
97% passing 3/8" sieve. Contractor was informed that corrective action was needed. Another sample of typical GDM
delivered today was collected at 2:30. Field gradation indicates GDM meeting required specifications.
Leachate Collection Pipe: No Activity Observed Today
24" HDPE Riser Pipe: (1) JD 410 Backhoe, (1) Welding Machine, and (2) laborers welded 24" HDPE Riser pipe.
Equipment Onsite: (1) CAT D6T LGP dozer, (2) water trucks, (1) Hitachi 300 excavator, (1) CAT TH160B folk lift, (1) John
Deere 410 Backhoe. (1) CAT 623 paddlewheel scraper. (1) Power Screen, (1) Belt Stacker, (1) Hyundai 480LC excavator, (1)
CAT D6T dozer, (2) Cat 745 Dump Truck, (1) Cat 950 M Loader
Problems/Resolutions.
Visitors: Mike Raub
Reviewed By: M.
