As-Built CQA Report for the Construction of Area 2A at the Foothill Sanitary Landfill San Joaquin County,California • 6.0 GEOSYNTHETICS CONSTRUCTION 6.1 GENERAL The Area 2A composite liner system construction included a total of approximately 658,000 sq. ft. of liner area, based on bid quantities, including approximately 160,000 sq. ft. of side slope. The actual plan area of the liner is about 613,200 sq.ft.based on the as-built survey. The geosynthetic materials included GCL, HDPE geomembrane, geotextile, drainage geocomposite and sacrificial geomembrane. The approximate quantities of geosynthetic materials as stated in the bid documents were as follows: ■ GCL 658,000 sq. ft. ■ 60-mil DST HDPE geomembrane 660,500 sq.ft. ■ 8-oz.geotextile 557,000 sq.ft. ■ Drainage Geocomposite 170,500 sq. ft. ■ Sacrificial Geomembrane 97,500 sq. ft. The CQA program for geosynthetics included activities prior to geosynthetics installation, and • observation and testing during geosynthetics installation and repairs. The CQA activities prior to geosynthetics installation included the following: ■ Review of MQC data. ■ Selection of rolls for sampling at the manufacturers' plants for conformance testing. A small quantity of geosynthetic materials was sampled at the landfill site when the Contractor ordered additional rolls to complete the job. ■ Performing conformance tests at a CQA-approved laboratory ■ Review of conformance test results. ■ Observations during material delivery, including unloading,handling and storage. ■ Preparing material inventory sheets. The CQA activities during geosynthetic installation included: ■ Observation of subgrade preparation; ■ Observation during panel deployment and placement; ■ Field observation during seaming and non-destructive seam testing; • ■ Selection of locations for destructive seam testing; PA14 Projects114-101(SJCDPW North County and Foothillffoothill CQA1Report\Final ReportToothill CQA Rport-Final.docx 17
