As-Built CQA Report for the Construction of Area 2A at the Foothill Sanitary Landfill <br /> San Joaquin County,California <br /> • 6.0 GEOSYNTHETICS CONSTRUCTION <br /> 6.1 GENERAL <br /> The Area 2A composite liner system construction included a total of approximately 658,000 sq. ft. <br /> of liner area, based on bid quantities, including approximately 160,000 sq. ft. of side slope. The <br /> actual plan area of the liner is about 613,200 sq.ft.based on the as-built survey. <br /> The geosynthetic materials included GCL, HDPE geomembrane, geotextile, drainage geocomposite <br /> and sacrificial geomembrane. The approximate quantities of geosynthetic materials as stated in the <br /> bid documents were as follows: <br /> ■ GCL 658,000 sq. ft. <br /> ■ 60-mil DST HDPE geomembrane 660,500 sq.ft. <br /> ■ 8-oz.geotextile 557,000 sq.ft. <br /> ■ Drainage Geocomposite 170,500 sq. ft. <br /> ■ Sacrificial Geomembrane 97,500 sq. ft. <br /> The CQA program for geosynthetics included activities prior to geosynthetics installation, and <br /> • observation and testing during geosynthetics installation and repairs. The CQA activities prior to <br /> geosynthetics installation included the following: <br /> ■ Review of MQC data. <br /> ■ Selection of rolls for sampling at the manufacturers' plants for conformance testing. A small <br /> quantity of geosynthetic materials was sampled at the landfill site when the Contractor <br /> ordered additional rolls to complete the job. <br /> ■ Performing conformance tests at a CQA-approved laboratory <br /> ■ Review of conformance test results. <br /> ■ Observations during material delivery, including unloading,handling and storage. <br /> ■ Preparing material inventory sheets. <br /> The CQA activities during geosynthetic installation included: <br /> ■ Observation of subgrade preparation; <br /> ■ Observation during panel deployment and placement; <br /> ■ Field observation during seaming and non-destructive seam testing; <br /> • ■ Selection of locations for destructive seam testing; <br /> PA14 Projects114-101(SJCDPW North County and Foothillffoothill CQA1Report\Final ReportToothill CQA Rport-Final.docx <br /> 17 <br />
