As-Built CQA Report for the Construction of Area 2A at the Foothill Sanitary Landfill
San Joaquin County,California
• ■ Observation during field destructive seam testing, and review of laboratory destructive seam
test results; and
■ Observation during repairs and non-destructive seam testing following repairs.
A discussion of CQA observation and testing, and test results for each type of geosynthetic materials
are provided in the following sections.
6.2 MQC DOCUMENTATION
Prior to shipping the materials to the site, R.J. Gordon and GBE submitted the MQC test data for all
of the geosynthetics materials delivered to the site. AES reviewed the MQC data against the
requirements listed in the Project Specifications. Typically, the MQC data for all of the geosynthetic
materials met the Project Specifications. The MQC data for each of the geosynthetic components,
together with geosynthetic inventories, are included in Appendix F.
6.3 GEOSYNTHETICS INVENTORIES
The AES CQA Monitors observed handling and storage of geosynthetic materials as they were
delivered to the site to make sure that the materials were not damaged during unloading and that
they were properly stored and protected at the site. The geosynthetic material rolls (HDPE
geomembrane, GCL, Geocomposite and Geotextile) were stored off ground on 6-inch diameter
• pipes. The HDPE geomembrane rolls were stacked no higher than two rolls. The GCL materials
were stored three rolls high with the plastic covers intact. Geotextile rolls were stored on pipes and
were covered by plastic. Sacrificial geomembrane was delivered and stored on pallets and was
covered with plastic until deployed.
AES CQA Monitors prepared an inventory of all geosynthetic materials delivered to the site.
Geosynthetics inventories and the MQC data are included in Appendix F in the following order:
Appendix F.1 -GCL
Appendix F.2 - 60-mil DST HDPE geomembrane
Appendix F.3 -8-oz.geotextile
Appendix FA-Geocomposite
Appendix F.5 -Sacrificial Geomembrane
6.4 CONFORMANCE TESTING
AES retained TRI/Precision Geosynthetic Laboratories (Precision) of Anaheim, California, as their
third-party geosynthetics testing laboratory. Precision is a GAI-accredited testing laboratory. They
collected and tested conformance samples of geosynthetics used in construction of the Area 2A
• liner. Most of the sampling for conformance tests was performed by Precision at the
P:114 Projects114-101(SJCDPW North County and Foothillffoothill CQAIReportTinal ReportToothill CQA Rport-Final.docx
18
