C
DAILY FIELD REPORT Page 1 of 1
Project Name: Foothill Sanitary Landfill - Area 2A Report Number: 018
Project Number: 11-101-01 Date: Thursday 06/04/15
Owner: Dept. of Public Works, San Joaquin County CQA Monitors: T. Sathees
Contractor: R J Gordon Construction, Inc.
Weather: Clear Wind: 0-10 mph.
Temperature: ApErox. range 60-90 F Other:
The contractor worked from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.
Excavation: 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Up to (2) CAT D6 and (1) CAT D8 dozers with ripper attachments assisted up to (4) CAT 627
and (2) CAT 637 scrapers load material from the excavation along north and east sides of the cell, and excavation of existing
ramp at northwest corner of the cell. The soil was hauled and stockpiled at North West Stockpile for use as daily cover for
current landfill operations, South Stockpile 1 for use as Foundation layer soil, at South Stockpile 2 for use as Operations layer
soil, and to Earthfill construction along south side of the cell. The soil was hauled on an approximate 5 -min cycle.
(1) CAT 14H motorgrader and (1) CAT D6 dozer (with slope board attachment) part time trimmed the upper slopes along
north and east sides of the cell. (1) CAT 621 water pull was used to maintain excavation areas and slopes.
North West Stockpile: 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The scrapers hauled unsuitable soil from the existing ramp at northwest corner
of the cell to North West Stockpile. (1) CAT 14H motorgrader was observed part time spreading and grading the soil in the
Stockpile fill areas and maintaining haul roads. (1) CAT 621 water pull was used to maintain haul roads.
South Stockpile 1 (Foundation): 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The scrapers hauled few loads of fine-grained materials from slopes
along north side of the cell to the South Stockpile 1 for use as Foundation layer soil. (1) CAT 14H motorgrader was observed
part time spreading and grading the soil in the Stockpile fill areas, and maintaining haul roads. (1) CAT 621 water pull was
used to maintain stockpile fill areas and haul roads.
South Stockpile 2 (Operations): 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. The scrapers hauled the generally sandy materials from north and east
sides of the cell to the South Stockpile 2 for use as Operations layer soil. One composite samples was obtained, and the fines
content was 22 % of the portion finer that 3/8 -inch. (1) CAT 14H motorgrader, (1) CAT D6 dozer, and (1) CAT D8 dozer were
observed part time spreading and grading the soil in the Stockpile fill areas, and maintaining haul roads. (1) CAT 621 water
pull was used to maintain stockpile fill areas and haul roads.
Access Road Embankment Fill (Earthfill): No activity was observed.
Subgrade Earthfill: 7:00 pm to 5:30 pm. The scrapers hauled the soil from the excavation areas and placed Earthfill along
south side of the cell. (1) CAT 621 water pull moisture -conditioned the Earthfill. (1) CAT 825 compactor was used to break
the big clods and to compact the Earthfill. Density testing on the Earthfill indicated compliance with the specifications.
Equipment Onsite: (1) CAT D8T dozer, (1) CAT D6T dozer, (1) CAT D6R dozer (with slope board) (1) CAT 621G water pull,
(4) CAT 627 scrapers, (3) CAT 637 scrapers, (1) 14H motorgrader, (1) CAT 825H compactor, (1) water truck
Problems/Resolutions.
Visitors:
Reviewed By: M.
