INSPECTION ACTIVITIES <br />Inspection activities will be performed by the CQA Team throughout the project to <br />ensure that construction is proceeding in conformance with the Project Plans and <br />Specifications. These activities are divided into pre -construction, construction, and <br />post -construction activities. <br />5.1 Pre -Construction <br />The CQA Officer will conduct pre -construction training and information sessions <br />with CQA personnel to familiarize them with the specified design, inspection policies, <br />and procedures. Pre -construction inspection activities of the CQA Team will include: <br />• Reviewing and becoming familiar with all design criteria, Project Plans, <br />Specifications, and CQA Plan for the proposed construction. <br />• Look for inconsistencies in the Project Plans, Specifications, and CQA Plan. <br />Any inconsistencies will be discussed with and resolved by the design engineer <br />or Owner. <br />• Perform imported clay material acceptance testing (if needed for clay <br />admixture) at the frequency shown in Table 1. <br />• Forward will measure the thickness of the foundation layer prior to <br />construction. The CQA Team will review the thickness measurements to <br />confirm that the minimum 2 -foot thickness is met. <br />• Forward will place and compact the foundation layer prior to construction. The <br />CQA Team will test the relative compaction of the foundation layer at the <br />frequency shown in Table 2. Forward will expose the relative compaction <br />testing locations under the direction of the CQA Team. <br />• Reviewing existing reports that pertain to construction. <br />• Reviewing Contractor's certifications, submittals, test results, sources, and <br />samples of earth and synthetic materials for acceptance requirements described <br />in the specifications and this CQA Plan. <br />J:kALLIEDU^ORWARD\CL.OSURE\REPORT\CQAREPORT 5-1 99.11.30 <br />
