Guinn scarified and moisture
conditioned the subgrade prior to placement of the clay material. Guuwxipped the-stockpile with the D5H Cat Dozer.
Guinn utilized 3-633 paddle wheel scrapers to haul the clay material to the cell floor. Guinn compacted the material with
the 815F Sheepfoot compactor in approximately 6-8"loose lifts. Guinn utilized the scrapers to help with compaction by
wheel rolling the clay material after the 815 compacted and the grader scraped the loose material from the surface. Prior
to the subsequent lift Guinn utilized the Sheepfoot compactor to rescarify the lift prior to placement of the next lift,
Guinn utilized the scrapers to wheel roll and seal the moisture in the clay stockpile.
Allied—Allied is smooth drum rolling the top of the subgrade material for GCL placement. Allied completed placement
of the earthfdl material on the south slope of cell WMU D-88. Guinn utilized the scrapers to wheel roll the surface of the clay. Prior to the subsequent lift Guinn utilized the
Sheepfoot compactor to scarify the lift. CQAperformed density tests that failed: CQA pulled moisture samples to
confirm failing moistures. Guinn shut down the scrapers and ripped up the failing clay with the D5H Cat Dozer and
allowed it to aerate until the proper moisture was obtained. Guinn then reworked the area to meet specifications. Guinn
wheel rolled the floor to seal the clay liner system.
Allied—Allied utilized the wafter truck to maintain moisture in the subgrade material. Allied completed smooth drum
rolling of the subgrade material.
Wednesday June 16, 1999
Guinn—Guinn completed placement of the clay onto the cell floor. Guinn still needs to grade and compact the top lift on
the north and south ends of the cell floor utilizing the laser to achieve the 2%flow towards the LCRS channel.
