B. Scott talked to Sangeeta about ballast for the pond bottom. Guinn will
determine prices for placing about 1 foot of gravel on the bottom of the pond
instead of the cement-lined tires.
2. Review of work progress since previous meeting:
A. The berms have soil placed over them on the south slope of the ash pit and
slope of the cells.
B. The vegetative layer on the ash pit has been placed. The top still needs to be
completed and the material track-walked in.
C. The pond excavation has been on going.
D. The gravel for the pond was delivered and Vector ran a sieve on it.
E. All of the granular material was placed in the D-99 cell. Guinn is waiting for
the geotextile to finish the cell.
3. Projected schedule:
A. The primary excavation of the pond should be completed.
B. Subgrade preparation should begin tomorrow.
C. Kleinfelder is scheduled to begin placing the lysimeters on Thursday. This
may change, however, since additional lysimeters will be placed.
D. Depending on the amount of over-excavation needed, Guinn should be ready
for GSE to line on the 16th.
4. Coordination of schedules:
A. GSE has committed to begin lining on the 16th of August for the pond.
B. The geotextile should arrive on-site with the HDPE by tomorrow afternoon.
5. Field observations, problems, conflicts, and changes:
A. Forward will place the 20-inch CMP across the road on the south side of the
ash pit.
B. Guinn will provide a cost comparison for placing gravel on the bottom of the
pond instead of using the tires.
C. Guinn was instructed to place two additional lysimeters under the sump. The
RWQCB stated that if the two proposed lysimeters failed, they would have to
be replaced. Because of this, two back-up lysimeters will have to be installed.
D. With GSE not showing up until the 16th, Guinn will have no problem surveying
the final grades of the pond prior to placing liner.
E. Along the anchor trench on the southwest side of the ash pit, no geotextile
was placed for protection. Guinn will fix this problem by digging up the soil
n:/98601 1.01 Meekly Progress Meetings/08-03-99 Meeting Tdoc Page 2
