0 4.0 POST -CLOSURE MAINTENANCE PLAN <br />4.1 INTRODUCTION <br />Post -closure maintenance of the closed Forward Landfill will be performed in <br />accordance with applicable regulatory standards included in 27 CCR, Chapters 3 <br />and 4, and 40 CFR Section 258.61. Post -closure maintenance activities for the <br />Forward Landfill will consist of: <br />• Final Cover Maintenance <br />• Drainage System Maintenance <br />• Vegetative Cover Maintenance <br />• Leachate Control System Maintenance <br />• Gas Monitoring and Control Systems `fvMaintenance <br />• Groundwater Monitoring System Maintenance <br />• Access Road Maintenance <br />• Site Security Inspection and Maintenance <br />• Landfill Settlement Monitoring and Monument Maintenance s <br />The maintenance procedures for each of these activities are described in the <br />following sections. <br />4.2 FINAL COVER MAINTENANCE <br />The integrity and effectiveness of the final cover will be maintained by making <br />repairs, if necessary, to correct the effects of settlement, subsidence, erosion, or <br />damage to the vegetation. Areas that show evidence of damage will be <br />investigated to ascertain the cause of the damage before repairs are undertaken. If <br />the damaged areas have caused ponding of surface runoff, soil will be added as <br />needed and regraded until positive drainage is re-established. If the repaired area <br />is large enough, it will be revegetated.
