Stage VIII Stage VIII is a 24.1 -acre area as shown on Figure 8. This area includes the entire deck and slope area of the southern most portion of the landfill. The closure volume estimates are based on a "flat deck" down to the master plan base grades. As part of this project, the area will be cleared and grubbed, as necessary, and the closure improvements constructed (e.g., final cover, permanent drainage, landfill gas system modification, etc.). 1.3 Maximum Extent of Landfill That Will Ever Require Closure The maximum extent of the landfill that will ever require closure during the life of the landfill is 187.6 acres since Stage IA partial final closure construction was completed in 2006. Table 1 presents the anticipated staged closure acreages versus the liner development phases to show the maximum extent that would ever require closure. As shown, liner development Phases 1, 2, 3 and 4 would be completed before the Stage I closure is implemented creating the basis for maximum extent. The site's closure staging was developed so as to not interfere with active disposal 0 operations. 1.4 Closure Implementation A closure implementation schedule for the FL will be presented in each Partial Final Closure as phased closure is implemented. Closure construction will begin with mobilization of equipment and materials.
