4.1.2 CURRENT RESOURCE RECOVERY ACTIVITIES <br /> Salvaging, volume reduction, and recycling activities were conducted at the <br /> transfer station located in the area of the existing Forward Landfill, south of the <br /> South Branch of Little Johns Creek. The transfer station building is currently <br /> utilized for transfer (i.e., unloading of packer trucks and loading onto transfer <br /> trailers) of recycled material. <br /> 4.1.3 EXISTING STORAGE AND SUPPORT FACILITIES <br /> The support facilities consist of an entrance facilities area, scales and scale <br /> houses, water production wells, maintenance and storage area, a transfer <br /> station/resource recovery building, landfill gas recovery plant, a groundwater <br /> treatment plant, and sedimentation/detention ponds. <br /> The entrance facilities area includes two office trailers, portable sanitary facilities, <br /> a landscaped area, and gravel and paved parking areas for employees and <br /> visitors. The main site office is located in the entrance facility. <br /> isThe scale house for the Forward Landfill has four scales and is located in the <br /> central portion of the site. Incoming waste loads are monitored at the scale <br /> house and all vehicular activities are regulated in accordance with the <br /> established Hazardous Waste Exclusion Program/Load Checking Program. An <br /> additional scale is located in the southeast portion of the site to service the <br /> resource recovery/transfer operations. <br /> Two water supply wells and one water supply standpipe are located at the <br /> existing Forward Landfill and one water supply well is located at the existing <br /> Austin Road Landfill. The water supply standpipe is located adjacent to the <br /> Forward scalehouse. The water production well that supplies the standpipe is <br /> located near the main entrance facility for the existing Forward Landfill. The well <br /> has a production of approximately 1,500 gallons per minute (gpm). The other <br /> water supply well at the existing Forward Landfill is located south of the South <br /> Branch of Little Johns Creek and has a capacity of 500 gpm. The water supply <br /> well at the existing Austin Road Landfill is located along the northern boundary <br /> of the existing landfill.
