the site (Austin Road) is landscaped with trees and the RRF has a 5-foot high <br /> earthen berm on the southern and eastern sides to limit the site visibility from the <br /> road. The equipment maintenance area and storage yard at the landfill is fenced <br /> and is locked when the site is closed. <br /> 3.3.5 COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT <br /> In accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17415.1, adequate communication <br /> equipment is available to site personnel to allow response to emergencies. <br /> Telephone service is provided to the RRF by Pacific Bell. The site offices and <br /> vehicles used for site operations are equipped with phones. The site has 7 <br /> telephone lines for business and emergency use. <br /> 3.3.6 FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT <br /> In accordance with 14 CCR, Section 17415.2 fire suppression equipment is <br /> continuously available at the RRF. Forward has a number of site and personal <br /> safety procedures in place as detailed in the Contingency Plan (Appendix D). The <br /> following equipment and systems have been installed at the site to prevent and <br /> control accidental ignition of combustible materials at the RRF: <br /> • Fire extinguishers- inspected daily and recharged as necessary. <br /> • Annual fire inspections by the Manteca-Lathrop Fire Department. <br /> • Two water trucks are available. <br /> • Emergency 4 1/2-inch fire hose hook up in the southeast corner of the landfill, <br /> north of the South Fork and a 2 1/2-inch fire hose hook up in the northeast <br /> corner of the site for the fire department. <br /> • Knoxbox outside the landfill main entrance with keys to the main gate, landfill <br /> office, and RRF office. <br /> Regular maintenance, inspection, and housekeeping procedures are conducted. <br /> Emergency equipment operating instructions, escape routes, emergency response <br /> (including a separate section on ACM) and evacuation procedures are identified in <br /> the Contingency Plan. <br /> The RRF equipment and vehicles are maintained to prevent fires by frequently <br /> removing debris and dust from undercarriages and engine compartments and <br /> Forward,Inc.Resource Recovery Facility 3-18 <br /> Transfer/Processing Report <br /> (L:\Allied\2003.0146\Report\Final TPR\Sec3.doc:10/22/03;Revision 1: 11/20/200344� 8f?803) <br /> BRYAN A.STIRRAT®ASSOCIATES <br />
