2.0 TRANSFER STATION INFORMATION
2.1 TRANSFER STATION ACTIVITIES
The following sections describe the activities conducted at the RRF from
materials receiving to transfer of refuse/recyclables off-site as required by 14
CCR, Section 18221.6 (d).
2.1.1 MATERIALS RECEIVING
Trucks with recyclable loads go directly to the RRF. At the RRF, the operator or
laborers direct the trucks to the scale and then to the unloading area. The RRF
maintains records of incoming materials in tons.
2.1.2 UNLOADING
The unloading areas are shown on Figure 6. Trucks back up to the west side of
the transfer building which is open for the whole width of the building (120 feet).
All incoming recyclables and/or wastes are unloaded on the floor of the RRF
building.
"All wood" materials are unloaded in the wood grinding area which is confined to
an area approximately 100 feet by 150 feet and 12 feet high, as specified by the
local fire department and county permits. Also, as required by the local fire
department, this area is kept a minimum of 100 feet from the RRF building.
2.1.3 INCOMING MATERIALS STORAGE
Due to the small volume of traffic at the RRF, all of the incoming materials are
stored, sorted, and processed on the tipping floor (Figures 6 and 7). There are no
peak loading periods at the RRF. When the building is at capacity, incoming loads
are not accepted until there is sufficient capacity to handle the load. Except for
wood, sheet rock, and similar inert materials; no incoming loads are stored
anywhere but inside the RRF building. Residual municipal solid waste is not
stored at the facility for longer than 48 hours. The station has the capacity to
store approximately 200 to 500 tons of waste/recyclables within the structure.
This storage capacity is sufficient to handle periods during the operating day
Forward,Inc.Resource Recovery Facility 2-1
Transfer/Processing Report
(L\Allied\2003.0146\Report\Final TPR\Sec2.doc:10/22/03;Revision 1: 11/7/2003)
BRYAN A.STIRRAT 6 ASSOCIATES
