WMU FU-06 November 2006
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.07
1 per 4,900 cy. A summary of test results is shown in Table 3. Results of the tests
are included in Appendix C.
TABLE 3
SUBGRADE FILL LABORATORY TESTING SUMMARY
Specifications N/A NIA N/A N/A N/A >100% max at
surface
SGP-1 Sandy Clay 116.8 14.3 30 16 14 100.0% < 1/2"
SGP-2 Sandy Clay 115.8 12.9 30 17 13 100.0% < 1/2"
SGP-3 Sandy Clay 115.0 13.8 31 17 14 100.0% < 1/2"
SGP-4 Sandy Clay 115.0 14.4 26 13 13 100.0% < 1/2"
SGP-5 Sandy Clay 114.9 15.5 100.0% < 1/2"
SGP-6 Sandy Clay 114.9 1 15.5 100.0% < 1/2"
Moisture and Density Testing: Vector's CQA Monitor recorded 93 in-place unit
weight (ASTM D-2922) and in-place moisture content (ASTM D-3017) tests during
the compaction of the subgrade fill soil materials. The total number of passing tests
recorded corresponds to a frequency of 1 per 376 cy, which satisfies the minimum
required frequency of 1 per 500 cy. In, addition, oven moisture contents were
performed at the minimum specified frequency of 1 per 5,000 cy. Areas that failed
to meet the acceptable compaction were reworked and/or replaced and retested until
a passing result was achieved. Summaries of the field moisture/density testing are
tabulated in Appendix C.
Upon completion of the subgrade fill on the slopes, the Contractor prepared the
surface for geosynthetics placement by smooth drum rolling the area. Vector's CQA
Monitor observed the smooth drum rolling procedure and advised the Contractor of
areas where ridges, rough areas, and/or voids were present so that these areas could
be reworked. Once the surface preparation was complete, the area was approved for
geosynthetics placement. A subgrade acceptance form was prepared by Vector's
Vector Engineering, Inc. • 143E Spring Hill Drive• Grass Valley,CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-12-
