Use normal stresses of
1,000; 2,500; 6,000; and 12,000 psf.
9) Shear at 0.04 in./min per ASTM D6243.
10) The testing laboratory should report the interface where deformations
are observed, the initial moisture content of the bentonite component
of the GCL, and the asperity of the geomembrane [GM -12].
b. A sample of each tested GCL shall be cut and tested for moisture content
[ASTM D 2216] before and after testing. Moisture contents shall be
recorded and submitted with the test results. The testing laboratory shall
submit a 6 -inch square sample of the GCL from the roll used in the testing
to the QA/QC CONSULTANT.
C. The asperity of the geomembrane [GM -12] used in testing shall be
recorded and the data submitted with the test results. The
geomembrane used for testing shall be from one of the rolls that will
be shipped to the site for construction of the liner. A 6 -inch square
sample of the geomembrane used in testing shall be submitted by the
testing laboratory to the QA/QC CONSULTANT.
1.
FAMILIARIZATION3.1
A. Prior to implementing any of the work described in this Section, the
GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR shall become thoroughly familiar with the
site, the site conditions, and the portions of the work falling within this Section.
B. Inspection:
1. Prior to implementing any of the work of this Section, the
GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR shall carefully inspect the installed
work of all other Sections and verify that all such work is complete to the
point where the installation of this Section may properly commence without
adverse impact.
2. If the GEOSYNTHETICS CONTRACTOR has any concern regarding the
installed work of other Sections, he should immediately notify the QA/QC
CONSULTANT prior to start of work of the Section.
