Northern Portion of WMU FU-06 August 2006
Forward Landfill Project No.021605.07
50-ft grid. As-built surveys of the granular layer are included in Appendix G. The
areas checked by the CQA Monitor had a minimum of 6-inches of granular drainage
material or greater.
4.5 LCRS Pipe
The LCRS pipe was a 3-inch SDR 11 pipe manufactured by PolyPipe. The pipe
lengths were welded together by the butt fusion method by Guinn. Vector's CQA
Monitor observed the welding processes to ensure compliance with the
specifications and manufacturer's recommendations. The perforations for the pipe
were done prior to shipment to the site. Vector's CQA Monitor observed the
perforations and found them to be in accordance with the construction drawings.
Documentation of the HDPE pipe used in construction is included in Appendix F.
The as-built drawing depicts the approximate locations of the LCRS pipe. On the
west side, the FU-06 LCRS is connected to the northern portion of the FU-05 LCRS.
The northern portion of FU-05 LCRS drains into WMU FU-05 and is collected in
the WMU FU-05 sump. The system to convey leachate off the northern portion of
WMU FU-06 consists of extending the non-perforated HDPE pipe that exits the
WMU on the southern side (noted on the As-Built Drawing as the tie-in to FU-06
floor) to an onsite tank located near the toe of the south slope of the former Austin
Road Landfill. The tank is checked daily for leachate accumulation. Leachate
collected in the tank will be disposed in the onsite leachate evaporation pond. Once
the remainder of WMU FU-06 is completed and approved, the non-perforated pipe
will be routed to drain directly into the LCRS on the WMU FU-06 base.
4.6 Protective Operations Soil
Vector's CQA Monitor observed the placement of the protective soil layer on the
northern portion of WMU FU-06. Upon verification of the drainage layer thickness,
a geotextile filter was placed and a 12-inch protective operations layer was placed
Vector Engineering,Inc.•143E Spring Hill Drive•Grass Valley, CA 95945•(530)272-2448
-15-
