Disposal Of Purge Water
Only very low levels of either metallic or organic conWninmts have been detectedin some of
the wells down cent of WMU A. Because these levels arc very*low, there is not sufficient
-reason to containerize the purge water. Should the analytical is indicate a need to
containerize, the following procedure will be used:
Sample Purge water generated during well.purging, and excess water generated during
s4mpling, will be placed in a trailer mounted tank attached to- the sampling vehicle.
'When the tank is AA-the groundwater will be pumpedfrom the tank to an onsite Imchate
evaporation pond. After the groundwater sampling round is completed the tank will be
filled with approximately 100 gallons of water from the water truck fill station_ -This
water will then be recirculated in the tank and pump to rinse the system. The rmse water
will then be discharged to the leachate.evaporation pond..
Domestic Well
The domestic well sampled (DW-9690) contains.a.subrattsiible pump with:an in-line pressure
tank and switch to activate the pump once•the-pressor-c drops belour_a certain value:,. Me-sample
Ex point for-DW-9690 was-a spigot directly attached to the pressure tank. Water samples were not
r
collected directly from the-well because the aboveground plumbing and submersible pumps -
would need to be removed. Prior to collecting the-water samples, the pump was.allowed to run
for Approximately 30 minutes to,purge the water system and draw groundwater from-the aquifer_
During sampling, the pumps cycled on-off because the pumping rate exceeded the spigot
discharge,
LANDFML GAS
LandfiH gas monitoring at Forward Landfill consists of monitoring gas in the ten interim gas
probes and in buildings located at the landfill.facility.
23-493 949-FO 1\2310R325 .x•11 July 14,2000
a br-
