Hydraulic conductivity testing of the Granular Drainage (GD) material indicated an average flow rate
greater than 1.0 cm/sec, which exceeds the requirement of 0.1 cm/sec. Hydraulic conductivity testing
of the Coarse Gravel (CG) drainage material indicated an average flow rate greater than 5.0 cm/sec,
which;exceeds the requirement of 1 cm/sec.
A summary of the laboratory testing conducted on the Granular Drainage (GD) layer and the Coarse
Gravel (CG) are presented in Tables 5 and 6, respectively. The laboratory test results of the
Granular Drainage (GD) pea gravel and Coarse Gravel (CG) testing are included in Appendix F and
Appendix G, respectively.
TABLE 6
COARSE GRAVEL LABORATORY
4.6 Protective Operations Layer
Upon completion and approval of the LCRS Granular Drainage (GD) layer and deployment of 7
oz/yd2 Filter geotextile, a one -foot thick lift of protective Operations Layer soils was placed on the
floor and also pushed 10° up the 2:1 slope at the north end of WMU FU -10.
The protective Operations Layer soils were placed by scrapers by spreading the on-site moisture
conditioned soil in a maximum 12 -inch loose lift over the Filter geotextile and LCRS Gravel Drain
(GD) material using a GPS controlled D6 dozer. The Ausenco Vector CQA monitor observed the
contractors activities during placement of the Operations Layer soils and verifies that no damage
occurred to the underlying geosynthetics.
4.7 Anchor Trenches and Termination Berms
Prior to commencement of geomembrane deployment, the Ausenco Vector CQA monitor observed
that the anchor trenches were constructed according to the details in the Plans and Specifications,
and were free of loose soil or deleterious material. After completion of geosynthetics deployment, the
Ausenco Vector CQA monitor observed and documented that the backfill for the anchor trenches was
placed and compacted in accordance with the project specifications, and that no damage occurred to
Date: October 2010
USVC0004800
Final Construction Quality Assurance Report 13
