Ausenco Vector CQA activities during GCL
deployment include monitoring the installer's activities, filling out field forms for Subgrade Acceptance
and Deployment Logs, and producing an as -built map.
Field Panel identification: Prior to GCL deployment, the Ausenco Vector CQA monitor and the
superintendent for the liner installer, COMANCO, discussed the labelling of the material. It was
agreed to the number each separate panel sequentially, including the factory roll number and the
days date. Field sketches of each day's deployment were produced and maintained by Ausenco
Vector CQA monitor. This information can be found in Appendix 1.
Field Panel Placement: The GCL deployed on the 5:1 slope were full panels from the anchor trench
to bench, where the GCL was over lapped 7 feet according to the plans. Full panels were deployed
from the bench to the bottom of the 2:1 slope. During deployment, granular bentonite was spread
along the inside edge of each seam and the GCL overlapped 1 foot according to the requirements in
the Plans and Specifications. During GCL deployment, the Ausenco Vector CQA monitor recorded
information in the GCL Deployment Logs. Included with these logs are as -built sketches showing the
location of each panel of GCL. To protect the GCL from hydration the material was covered the same
day as it was deployed with HDPE liner. The GCL panel Deployment Logs are presented in Appendix
H.
5.2.3.2 Defects and Repairs
During deployment, the Ausenco Vector CQA monitor inspected the seams and non -seam areas of
the GCL for defects, holes, insufficient overlap, premature hydration and signs of contamination by
foreign material. Defects in the GCL were brought to the attention of the installer to make repairs or
corrections as needed.
5.3.1 Geomembrane Material
A 60 -mil thick high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane, manufactured by Agru America, was
used in the composite liner system for WMU FU -10. Double -sided textured (DST) liner was deployed
on the floor and upper deck areas; single -sided textured (SST) liner was used on the 5:1 -bench -2:1
slope areas.
Date: October 2010
USVC0004800
Final Construction Quality Assurance Report
16
