2 PROPOSED PROJECT
2.1 General
Ameresco is proposing to construct an LFGTE facility at Forward Landfill to convert collected
LFG to electrical power. The LFGTE facility is proposed to be located near the existing LFG
flare at Forward Landfill. The LFGTE facility will produce energy from the LFG generated at
Forward Landfill using two (2) new LFG fired internal combustion (IC) engine units. Each
engine will be sized to utilize a maximum of 942 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) of LFG
and produce approximately 2.18 Megawatts (MW) of electric power at full load. Ameresco is
also proposing to install a new, small, high temperature, enclosed ABUTEC flare associated with
the LFG pretreatment system for the IC engine units. The flare will burn the off gas from the
regeneration of the Siloxane pretreatment system, which will be used to purify the gas for the IC
engines.
The existing LFG enclosed flare will continue to be the primary control device for the landfill
but will not operate when the LFGTE facility is operating except to burn excess LFG beyond
what the engines can handle. The flare will also provide backup LFG combustion capacity in the
event that both engines are off-line. At this time it is expected that the existing Covanta LFGTE
facility at the site will also continue to operate and will collect and convert LFG from its current
well field.
2.2 Facility Layout
Figure 2-1 is a Vicinity Map that depicts the proposed LFGTE facility in relation to the entire
' Forward Landfill property. The proposed LFGTE Facility will be located directly east of the
existing flare.
Figure 2-2 is a Site Plan. An approximately 50-ft by 70-ft building is proposed to house an
office, the LFGTE engines, electrical switchgear, and other ancillary equipment. In addition, an
outdoor concrete pad area will be located adjacent to the building on which skid-mounted
equipment, an electrical transformer and a flare will be placed.
Sanitary facilities will be provided in the form of a Wells Cargo Comfort Elite ADAI (or
similar) self-contained restroom facility, which will be serviced on a routine basis. Power will
be provided by the LFGTE facility. Potable water needs are limited and will be supplied by
existing water wells at Forward or by purchased bottled water.
The LFGTE engine dimensions will be approximately 9.2-ft high, 7.5-ft wide, and 32.5-ft long.
The planned stack height for each engine will be 40-ft above ground with a diameter of 20-
inches. The ABUTEC enclosed flare has a height of approximately 50-ft.
C:\Documents and Settingsyessica.sees\Desktofforwud LFGTE-Roject Description.doc
CORNERSTONE 2-1 LEWIS ENGINEERING
E-9...m..e.l G...P.LLC
