Final Construction Quality Assurance Report—WMU FU -13
Forward Landfill
5.2.3.2 Defects and Repairs •
During deployment, GLA's CCW Monitor inspected the seams and non -seam areas of the GCL
for defects, holes, insufficient overlap, premature hydration and signs of contamination by
foreign material. Defects in the GCL were brought to the attention of the installer to make
repairs or corrections as needed.
5.3 GEOMEMBRANE
5.3.1 Geomembrane Material
A 60 -mil thick high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane, manufactured by Agru
America, was used in the composite liner system for WMU FU -13.
Double -sided textured (DST) liner was deployed on the floor and top deck areas; single -sided
textured (SST) liner was used on the 4:1 -bench and 2:1 slope areas. About 179,832 ftZ of DST
HDPE was used on the floor; and about 55,959 ftZ on the upper deck. About 222,350 ftz of SST
HDPE was used on the slopes.
The deployment methods and documentation of the DST and the SST HDPE liners were the
same. Therefore, GLA's CCW Monitor documentation procedures and testing described below is
pertains to both material types.
5.3.1.1 Receiving Inspection
Upon arrival by truck shipment, GLA's CQA Monitor observed the unloading and storage of the
geomembrane rolls. As each roll was unloaded from the delivery truck, the roll number was
recorded in the Receiving Logs, and then crosschecked with the manufacturer's quality control
documents (MQC Certifications) provided by the liner manufacturer. These documents were
reviewed by GLA. Following this review, the material was approved for deployment. A copy of
the Receiving Logs and MQC certificates are included in Appendix I.
5.3.1.2 CQA Conformance Testing
Select samples of the HDPE were cut from random rolls of the geomembrane at the
manufacturing plant by the third party testing laboratory for conformance testing in
accordance with the project specifications and CCW manual. Conformance testing included:
density (ASTM D-1505);
• carbon black content (ASTM D-4218);
20 Geo—Logic
ASSOCIATES
•
