Final Construction Quality Assurance Report-WMU FU -13
Forward Landfill
5.3.3.2 Repair Procedures and Testing
The repairs were conducted in accordance with the applicable method specified within the
project Specifications. GLA's CQA Monitor reviewed each repair and verified that subsequent
testing was performed. These Repair Logs are presented in Appendix I.
5.3.4 Leak Location Survey
A leak location survey was conducted twice during the construction of WMU FU -13. The first
leak location survey was performed on the 60 -mil DST HDPE geomembrane deployed on the
floor of FU -13, prior to the placement of the cushion geotextile. The second leak location
survey was performed on the floor of FU -13 upon completion of the operations layer soils
placement. GLA engineers conducting the leak tests found no holes during either of the leak
tests. A complete report of the leak testing procedure and findings of the leak location surveys
is included in Appendix J.
5.4 GEOTEXTILE
5.4.1 General
A 12 oz/yd2 cushion geotextile was used on the floor between the HDPE geomembrane and
LCRS granular drainage material. An 8 oz/yd2 filter geotextile was used as a separation layer
(filter) between the LCRS Granular Drainage material (GD) and the Operations Layer soils. It was
also used in the LCRS trenches to encapsulate the coarse gravel and perforated HDPE piping.
5.4.2 Receiving Inspection
Upon arrival by truck, GLA's CQA Monitor observed the unloading and storage of each roll of
geotextile. Each roll of geotextile was recorded in the Receiving Logs by roll number and
crosschecked against the manufacturer's quality control documents (MQC certificates) provided
by the manufacturer. Following inspection of the rolls and review of the MQC certificates, the
material was approved for deployment. A copy of the Geotextile Receiving Logs and the
manufacturer's quality control data are included in Appendix K.
During deployment of the 8 oz/yd2 filter geotextile on the top deck area above the 4:1 slope,
the installer ran out of material. Forward was able to utilize additional geocomposite material
from the project. In addition, some of the geocomposite was also used as a cushion layer for a
small portion of the cell floor.
26 Geo -Logic
ASSOCIATES
0
0
