Final Construction Quality Assurance Report—WMU FU -13
Forward Landfill
• 5.4.3 CQA Conformance Testing
Select samples of the geotextile were cut from random rolls at the manufacturing plant by the
third party testing laboratory, TRI, for conformance testing in accordance with the project
specifications and CQA manual. Conformance testing included:
• mass per unit area (ASTM D-5261); and
grab strength (ASTM D-4632).
A total of three 12 -oz geotextile samples and three 8 -oz geotextile samples were tested for
conformance. Based on 259,000 ft2 of 12 -oz geotextile and 292,500 ft2 of 8 -oz geotextile
received, this testing frequency corresponds to one test per 86,333 ft2 and one test per 97,500
ft2, respectively; which satisfies the requirement of one test per 100,000 ft2. Results of the
conformance testing indicated that the materials met the requirements of the project
specifications. Detailed test results are included in Appendix K.
5.4.4 Deployment
The panel deployment procedure was observed and documented by GLA's CQA Monitor. Our
CQA Monitor observed that the conditions of the CQA manual were met during deployment.
. GLA's CQA monitor observed that proper seam overlap, seaming, tie-ins, and other
manufacturer's written guidelines were followed.
5.4.5 Repair
The geotextile materials were checked for defects during deployment and holes or tears were
identified and repaired prior to placement of the cover materials.
5.5 GEOCOMPOSITE
5.5.1 General and Receiving Inspection
A geocomposite drainage layer was placed as part of the LCRS on the slope areas of WMU FU -
13. The MQC certifications and conformance test results for this material were reviewed and
approved and the documentation for these rolls is included in this Report.
5.5.2 Receiving Inspection
Upon arrival by truck, GLA's CQA Monitor observed the unloading and storage of each roll of
geocomposite. Each roll of geocomposite was recorded in the Receiving Logs by roll number
• and crosschecked against the manufacturer's quality control documents (MQC certificates)
27 Geo -Logic
ASSOCIATES
