Disposal Of Purge Water
0111Y VOY low levels of either metallic or organic contarninaitts have been detected in some of
the wells downgradient of WMU A. Because these levels are vcry"low, there, is not sufficient
zwwn to containerize the purge water. Should the analytical results indicate a need to
containerize, the following proced= will, be used:
Sample purge water generat6d during well.purging, and excess water generated during
sampling, will be placed in a tafler mounted tank attached to- the sampling vehicle.
When the tank is full. the grottridwater will be pumped from the tank to an onsite leachate
evaporation pond. After the groundwater sampling round is completed the tank will be
fiUltd with 2PPro.-dulatelY 100 gallons of water from the water truck fill station._TILi.S
'Water Will then be recirculated in the tank and pump to Anse the system- The ruse water
will then be discharged to the leachate.evaporation pond__
T114. domestic well sampled (D W-9690) contaim.a _submc=-blIC pump vfitb- an in-line
Pr`CSsUrC
tank and switch -to activate the pump once- the pressurc-drops below- a certain value--. 1ht--sample
point for -DW-9,690 was -a spigot directly attached to the presswe tauk- Water
samples v,,Vxe not
collected directly from the - voell becatise the aboveground plumbing and submersible PUIMPS
would need. to be removed- Prior to collecting the wat= samples, the pump was.
allowed to run
for approximately 3 0 minuties to, purge the water system and draw Mundwater from -the aquifer.
During sampling, the pumps cycled on-off because the pumping rate exceeded the spigot
discharge,
lfflrl MOVI
.11.■: 1 raf
I1 1ru,11IRM
23493944-FOI1231OR3Z A -I I July 14, 2000
2Q00 lCkintctr. tae.
64
