In addition to the differences in alternatives described
previously, the tables were prepared using different
assumptions and bases, as summarized in the following
tabulations
Item
Population and waste quantity
forecast, yr
Date of cost estimate, yr
Harney Lane Landfill site
replacement location
Existing transfer stations
Derivation of disposal costs
New Harney Lane Landfill
Foothill Landfill
Proposed central county
landfill
Transfer station, type (Eight
Mile Roao/Highway 99 site)
Sites used to compute
collection and haul costs for
public and other commerical haulers
Assumption, or basis
This study Table 8-1 in 1979 SWMP
1990 1985
1983
Specific location
California Waste Removal
Systems facility in Lodi,
opened 1981
Based on EIR--more site
specific than, 1979 SWMP
Additional contract fee
based on proportion of
additional waste volumes
to existing volume received
based on Harney Lane
estimate adjusted for size
Similar to existing
California Waste Removal
Systems facility in Lodi
Trips to closest site
1978
Not specified; also used
existing site
None
Update of 1973 and 1975
studies, which were not
site specific
S/ton charge to users
S/ton charge to users
Push pit/stationary
compactor
All trips to specified
site(s)
Because of these differences --especially the last three items
(derivation of disposal costs, transfer station type, and
sites used to compute collection and haul costs for public and
other commercial haulers) --cost figures in Table 4 will
necessarily not be the same as comparable figures in Table 8-1
of the 1979 SWMP. Therefore, direct comparisons between
Table 4 and Table 8-1 of the 1979 SWMP should not be made.
Collection and Haul. The collection and haul cost for the
Lodi City franchisee is not expected to be affected by any of
the alternatives, since it is assumed the franchisee will
continue to use the California Waste Removal Systems transfer
station for any of the alternatives.
