Another Delta Container Corporation company, <br /> Forward Inc. , operates a private class II and class III <br /> landfill and transfer station/recycling facility in <br /> Stockton. The facility conducts a large wood chipping <br /> program at that site, and recycles several materials <br /> from its commercial waste stream. <br /> Gilton Solid Waste has its main operation in <br /> Stanislaus County and collects residential and <br /> commercial waste in the City of Escalon and the <br /> surrounding area of San Joaquin County. The company has <br /> just opened a new transfer station and MRF in Modesto <br /> with the potential to recycle significant portions of <br /> the solid waste stream. The residential, commercial, and <br /> industrial wastes collected by Gilton Solid Waste in the <br /> unincorporated area of San Joaquin County go directly to <br /> the County's Lovelace Transfer Station rather than to <br /> its transfer station in Stanislaus County. <br /> Philco Disposal Service serves the residents of the <br /> unincorporated area around Manteca and Lathrop as well <br /> as the residents and businesses of the City of Lathrop. <br /> The company currently recycles very little from the <br /> waste stream in the unincorporated area, though its <br /> sister company, Lathrop Environmental, offers curbside <br /> recycling in the City of Lathrop. <br /> SOUTH COUNTY AREA FRANCHISED COLLECTOR: <br /> In the southern portion of the county, one <br /> collection company, Delta Disposal Service is franchised <br /> to collect residential wastes in the unincorporated <br /> area. This collector is currently in the process of <br /> designing a new transfer station with a targeted <br /> disposal capacity of 500 tons per day. The company does <br /> limited recycling at this time but will have the <br /> potential to achieve additional waste diversion when its <br /> Chapter 4 - Recycling 14 <br />
