new facility is sited, permitted and constructed.
LICENSED COLLECTORS:
Of the five collectors licensed to collect
commercial and industrial wastes in the County, three
have recycling programs.
Stockton Scavenger Association, Inc. , a Norcal
company, is located in the City of Stockton and is
licensed to collect commercial and industrial waste in
the unincorporated county. This collector owns and
operates a transfer station in the City of Stockton and
is in the process of permitting an expansion of that
facility. It currently diverts limited quantities of
wood, corrugated paper, high grade paper, newspaper,
aluminum cans, PET containers, and white goods.
The company's recycling activities will increase
considerably when its new transfer station comes on
line. Plans include diverting materials from the
commercial and industrial waste streams.
Commercial Salvage is another collector licensed to
collect commercial and industrial refuse in the
unincorporated area of the County. This collector has
a tub grinder and conducts a large wood chipping
operation, supplying a combination of chipped wood and
paper wastes to cogeneration businesses in the area.
Commercial Salvage also collects food processing
waste from canneries, and recycles that waste as animal
feed.
Waste Management, Tnc. collects commercial and
industrial wastes in the unincorporated area and
transports the waste to County disposal sites. The firm
recycles some source separated material in the County.
Bonzi, Inc. and Modesto Disposal Service are both
Stanislaus County collection companies located in
Chapter 4 - Recycling 15
