State Certified and Other Recycling Centers:
In addition to the disposal companies and their
recycling activities, there are 47 state certified
recycling centers in San Joaquin County. Most were
established as a result of the California Redemption
program and accept only redemption containers. However,
other recycling centers accept a wider range of
recyclables. In some cases, the certified redemption
centers accepting redemption beverage containers are
operated by waste disposal companies or scrap metal
companies. Quantities from these operations are
included in their overall recycling totals. Table 4-2
indicates that certified recycling centers diverted
about 1, 126 tons of waste in 1990.
Reynolds Aluminum has locations in three local
cities, serving residents of the cities and the
unincorporated areas.
