The San Joaquin County area has <br /> much to offer new businesses desiring to locate within the <br /> County, including attractive business locations, a large <br /> affordable and available work force, excellent rail access, <br /> an excellent highway system, proximity to Sacramento and Bay <br /> Area markets, and a seaport access to the Pacific Rim <br /> Markets. <br /> G. Consumer Incentives: <br /> Local grocery stores are encouraging recycling by <br /> collecting plastic and paper grocery bags for recycling, <br /> offering reusable cloth grocery bags for sale, and giving <br /> $.05 credit on their grocery bill to shoppers who supply <br /> their own grocery bags. All of these programs serve to <br /> heighten community awareness of the need to recycle. <br /> H. Education Programs: <br /> Several of the refuse companies have community education <br /> programs aimed at raising recycling awareness among the <br /> public. Speakers from the companies give presentations to <br /> local schools and organizations. <br /> An ambitious school program originated by California <br /> Waste Removal Systems is available to schools in Lodi and the <br /> surrounding unincorporated area. Three employees, two of <br /> them teachers by profession, bring a recycling curriculum <br /> into the schools. In addition, the company contributes a <br /> portion of the profits from the curbside recycling program to <br /> the schools, based on the percent of curbside recycling <br /> participation attributable to the various school districts. <br /> Another excellent education program, by Sunrise <br /> Chapter 4 - Recycling 19 <br />
