Il <br />11 <br />County Area will provide a central and regional focus to the <br />County's recycling program. These facilities will be <br />supplemented by other activities as well. <br />A. Existing Alternatives and Expansion of Existing Alternatives: <br />The County will encourage continuation of all of the <br />diversion programs now in place in the private sector. <br />Planned expansion of waste diversion facilities by the <br />refuse collection companies and other recycling entities <br />will be encouraged and supported by the County. It is <br />anticipated that implementation of proposed diversionary <br />programs by the County will have no direct impact on <br />current programs. <br />B. Alternatives to be r •r in the Short Term: <br />Alternatives that will be implemented by the County <br />during the short term are listed in the following <br />categories. <br />1. Public Educational Program: <br />The County will establish a public educational <br />program that will emphasize prudent buying, fully <br />using products, reuse, source reduction, and source <br />separation. This program is fully discussed later <br />in the Public Information Section of this SRRE. <br />2. Residential Program: <br />During the short-term planning period, the <br />County will implement a curbside collection program <br />Chapter 4 - Recycling <br />41 <br />
