Future Programs: <br />C. Recycling Alternatives to be Implemented During theMedium- <br />Term Planning Period: <br />Programs established and made operational during the <br />short-term period will be evaluated, and expanded where <br />feasible to meet the increased diversion rates required <br />by the ACT. <br />During the medium-term planning period, the MRFs may <br />be expanded as needed to include manual and/or <br />mechanical separation in order to achieve the increased <br />diversion goals by the year 2000. <br />D. Why the Alternatives were Selected: <br />In the unincorporated area, population is highest <br />around the city boundaries, and thus targetable by an <br />extension of a city's curbside program. County waste <br />disposal facilities are the obvious places for diversion <br />AChapter 4 - Recycling 47 <br />County <br />staff will continue to evaluate new <br />recycling programs and implement such <br />programs <br />where feasible.
