Programs by the Waste Haulers: <br />Delta Container Corp. in the Stockton area has the <br />"Granny Garbage" school program designed for 6th grade <br />classes and available to any school in the company's city <br />and county collection area which requests it. The program <br />includes a tour of a landfill and the company's recycling <br />center. <br />California Waste Removal Systems in the City of <br />Lodi, serving Lodi and the northern portion of the <br />unincorporated area, has an elementary school curriculum <br />and teaching staff available to schools within its <br />collection area upon request. <br />Several other collection companies that serve the <br />unincorporated area provide speakers to schools and civic <br />groups on the topics of waste reduction and recycling. <br />C. Education and Information Programs in the Community: <br />The local newspapers provide information on waste <br />reduction, local recycling facilities, and explanations <br />of how to build and use back -yard compost equipment. <br />Several local grocery stores are promoting reuse and <br />recycling by making cloth grocery bags available and <br />providing containers for the collection of used plastic <br />and paper grocery bags to be recycled. <br />IV.
