Programs Targeting the Self -Haul Waste Stream:
U
n
Chapter 7 - Education and Information 7
The self -haul waste stream represents 36% of the
total waste stream for the unincorporated area and
contributors are residents and businesses. This waste
ti
stream includes relatively small amounts of paper,
plastics, and glass and relatively large amounts of yard
waste (21.5%), various types of metal (21.4%), wood
(20.3%), and inert materials (13.91%).
County staff will work with the cities whenever
possible to jointly develop educational materials and
implement programs targeting the self -haul waste streams.
County staff will develop a program that provides
information to individuals and businesses that haul their
own wastes to County disposal sites. Since the self -haul
segment of the waste stream is a combination of residents
and businesses, they will be receiving information by all
the means listed under the residential and business
programs. In addition, the County will periodically hand
out at its 4isposal sites, flyers dealing with a variety
of solid waste issues. The programs and information for
the self -haul customers will be those listed above for
residents and businesses as applicable. In addition,
they will receive information specific to self -haul
programs at the disposal sites.
U
n
Chapter 7 - Education and Information 7
