0
waste quantities are then attributed to the
individual jurisdictions of the region on the basis
of population.
3e Existing Data from Comparable Jurisdictions:
A representative characterization of the solid
waste stream derived using data from another
California jurisdiction(s) to characterize solid
waste generated.
B. Waste Characterization Study:
n
The County used the Quantitative Field Analysis
method and identified a full range of waste types in its
initial solid waste generation study. However, as
discussed in Item A, 1, above, the County is not required
to perform a statistically representative study as
outlined by Appendix 1 of the guidelines. Therefore, the
statistically representative study performed by the
County was in
not strict accordance with Appendix 1, of
the guidelines.
The list of waste categories and types set forth in
the ACT was used, though the following waste types were
omitted since they were not found in the study:
bimetal containers industrial sludge
misc. organics auto shredder waste
ash auto bodies
sewage sludge other special wastes
These waste types may have been absent from the
waste stream at the time of the study due to seasonality
or chance. If they are found in the waste stream in the
future, they will be considered for diversion if markets
can be found.
Appendix I 3
n
