G <br />C. Material shall be stored in an area of the site that will not result in <br />contamination by other soils and materials. Engineer may reject materials <br />that have suffered degradation, segregation, or contamination. Contractor <br />will replace rejected material at no cost to County. <br />2.05 SOIL AND CLAY BACKFIN[. <br />A. The soil backfill in the well bore shall be either the same soil as the landfill <br />cover material, or shall have a soil classification of SC or CL and be free of <br />construction debris and rocks larger than 1 inch. Soil is available on-site at <br />no charge to the Contractor. <br />B. Clay backfill shall have a designation of CL and a maximum hydraulic <br />conductivity of 1076 cm/sec. <br />PART 3 EXECUTIONT <br />3.01 INSTALLATION <br />A. The Contractor shall maintain the well pipe vertical and centered in the <br />hole during the backfill operation of the bore. If the pipe is installed out of <br />plumb, the Contractor will correct the alignment. <br />B. The Contractor shall alert the Engineer if an obstruction is reached during <br />g <br />drilling such that the well cannot be completed as called for on the <br />Contract Drawings. The Engineer shall determine whether the borehole <br />has reached a sufficient depth for its intended function. If the well is not <br />to the depth shown on the drawings, the Engineer may direct the <br />Contractor to abandon the hole by backfilling with three foot lifts of clean <br />soil or clay up to 4 feet below grade. A bentonite seal two feet thick will <br />be placed in the hole four feet from the surface and the borehole shall be <br />capped with compacted clay. The Engineer shall advise the contractor on <br />the location and depth of a replacement well, if any. The Contractor shall <br />be compensated for abandoned holes according to the unit price of vertical <br />LFG wells at one half the actual depth drilled. <br />- caved ' <br />C. The Contractor shall re drill any borehole that ca 1n due to loose refuse <br />or because it was left open until the next working day.
