1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />A. At a minimum, the following procedures shall be followed when joining PVC <br />pipe: <br />1. Cut pipe square to center line. <br />2. Clean inside of pipe and pitting to remove burrs, dust, dirt, debris, chips <br />and moisture. <br />3. Clean and dry the outside area of pipe that is to be glued. <br />4. Apply a coating of primer as recommended by the pipe manufacturer to <br />the entire interior surface of the fitting socket and to an equivalent area on <br />the exterior area on the exterior of the pipe and prior to applying solvent <br />cement. <br />5. The piping shall not be exposed to water for 24 hours after the last solvent <br />weld joint is made. <br />3.05 HDPE PIPE INSTALLATION <br />A. HDPE piping shall be joined by butt fusion and in conformance with the <br />manufacturer's recommendations. Laterals shall be joined to the header pipe by <br />fusion welding saddles or tees. Electrofusion couplings may also be used. <br />B. Fusion welding of HDPE pipe shall be performed by a certified operator. The <br />pipe Contractor shall certify operator. No pipe shall be installed prior to submittal <br />of the verification. <br />C. Pipes 2 inches and larger shall be welded with full penetration butt welds. <br />D. Electro -fusion couplings may be used where butt welding is not practical. <br />3.06 TESTING AND INSPECTION <br />A. The Contractor shall pressure test all pipes pursuant to section 01412 "Testing and <br />Inspection." <br />B.
