When possible butterfly valves shall be installed so that the disk rotates on <br />the horizontal axis. Below grade butterfly valves without gear operator <br />may be installed with their axis in the vertical direction. <br />B. The inside diameter of HDPE pipe may be smaller than the diameter of the <br />disk on a butterfly valve. If the size of the disk interferes with the inside <br />diameter of pipe used in vacuum service, the contractor may at his option <br />either remove by machining excess material from the ID of the HDPE <br />flange adapter, or use thickest standard size HDPE flange adapters with a <br />thickness that will allow the valve disk to clear the pipe. <br />C. Valve installation shall be per the manufacturer's specifications. <br />4.01 MEASUREMENT <br />A. 12 -Inch Header Valve: Measurement for payment for furnishing and <br />installation of the 12 -inch Header valve shall be measured in terms of <br />units installed. <br />B. 6 -Inch Header Valve: Measurement for payment for furnishing and <br />installation of the 6 -inch Header valve shall be measured in terms of unit <br />installed. <br />C. 3 -Inch Header Valve: Measurement for payment for furnishing and <br />installation of the 3 -inch Header valve shall be measured in terms of units <br />installed. <br />D. The costs for all valves in the area of the flare station shall be included in <br />the total contract price under Flare Station Construction. <br />E.
