Surfaces to be painted shall be dry and shall meet the recommendations of
the paint manufacturer for surface preparation. Cleaning and painting
operations shall be performed in a manner which will prevent dust or other
contaminants from getting on freshly painted surfaces. Oil and grease
shall be completely removed by use of solvents or detergents before
mechanical cleaning is started. The gloss of previously painted surfaces
shall be dulled if necessary for proper adhesion of topcoats.
B. Metal surfaces that require painting and are continually exposed to
temperatures of less than 200*F shall be commercially sand blasted.
C. Surfaces to be painted shall be prepared and cleaned in accordance with
the paint manufacturer's recommended procedures, prior to applying paint
or surface treatment.
North County LFG Collection System
San Joaquin County Public Works
3
PAINTING
Section 09900
