The location of the GW monitoring wells at all sites are away from the
refuse footprint (Figure 1-3). Well installation work will not include drilling
into refuse or contact with refuse. Well locations will be adjusted in the
field based on site conditions. The wells will be surveyed after installation.
1.6 CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE
SWD will schedule installation of the GW monitoring wells after approval of
drilling permits from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
(EHD). Drilling and installation of each GW well will take minimum of 4
working days. The work hours will be Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to
4.30 pm.
Work Plan- Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation San Joaquin County
May7, 2013 Department Of Public Works
2 Solid Waste Division
C. Foothill Sanitary Landfill
FHSL is located in eastern San Joaquin County at 6484 N. Waverly
Road, four miles east of Linden, CA. The landfill is a single Class III
Waste Management Unit on an 800 -acre parcel. This Unit is comprised
of Module "I", Module 1, and future modules. Future modules will
overlap onto other completed modules, including Module "I" until final
closure of the Unit. Waste discharged to the landfill includes
commercial and household waste, construction/ demolition waste, and
agricultural waste.
1. Geology and Hydrogeology
The first water bearing zone encountered is in sandy gravel at a depth
of more than 200 feet below the ground surface. Groundwater
elevations vary between approximately 38 and 61 feet MSL.
Groundwater elevations fluctuate less than one foot seasonally. The
groundwater is unconfined or partially confined. Above the water -
bearing zone, the soil layers are moderately to well -cemented layers of
sandstone and siltstone with claystone and conglomerates. This soil is
mostly moderately slow in permeability with sporadic sandy layers that
are well drained.
1.3 REASON FOR INSTALLING GW MONITORING WELLS
The new GW wells will replace existing d GW wells at each site. The
p g ry
existing dry wells have become dry due to drop in groundwater elevation
over time. The dry existing dry wells will be kept as background
monitoring wells.
1.4 WELL LOCATION
The location of the GW monitoring wells at all sites are away from the
refuse footprint (Figure 1-3).
